Fae Coins of the Evening

To preserve the magic of the Faelight Ball, certain exchanges throughout the night are conducted not in modern currency, but in Fae coins: a symbolic tender used for the duration of the event.

These coins allow guests to move through the Night Market, Divination Parlour, and bar without breaking the spell of the evening, while also serving as charming keepsakes of the night.

What Are Fae Coins?

Fae coins are beautifully crafted event tokens, styled to reflect the blended worlds of fae and mortals. They are used in place of cash or card for purchases made at:

  • the Night Market and artisan vendors

  • the Divination Parlour

  • the bar (for both spirited and temperance libations)

Vendors and services list prices in coins rather than dollars, keeping the experience seamless and immersive.

Denominations of the Coin

There are three denominations of Fae coin, listed here from most valuable to least:

  • Gold

  • Tin

  • Copper

Each denomination carries its own weight and significance within the world of the Ball. The exact monetary value of each coin will be shared closer to the event date.

You may notice the absence of silver. This is quite intentional.

Within fae tradition, silver is known to be harmful to certain fae and other magical creatures, and so it is deliberately excluded from use during the evening. The coinage of the Ball reflects this long-held custom, favoring metals that are safe for all who gather beneath the lantern light.

Receiving Your First Coins

At the start of the evening, each guest will receive a small coin pouch containing a few Fae coins. These may be used throughout the night - or kept entirely as a souvenir - should you wish.

Additional coins can be purchased at any time during the evening at the registration desk.

Both cash and card are accepted for coin purchases

Using Coins Throughout the Night

Coins are exchanged directly with vendors and service providers, just as one might with traditional currency at a market or fair. There is no obligation to spend your coins, and participation is entirely optional.

Many guests enjoy:

  • saving a coin or two as a keepsake

  • spending some and keeping the pouch

  • collecting different denominations as a memento

At the end of the evening, any unused coins are yours to keep.

Why We Use Fae Coins

The use of Fae coins serves three purposes:

  • Immersion: allowing guests to remain fully within the world of the Ball
Ease: simplifying transactions across multiple vendors and spaces

  • Memory: offering a tangible reminder of the night

They are a small detail that helps the evening feel cohesive, thoughtful, and just a little enchanted.

A Final Reminder

Fae coins are the sole tender used throughout the Faelight Ball for purchases within the event spaces. Modern cash and card are accepted only at the registration desk, where additional coins may be obtained at any point during the evening.

You are never required to spend your coins in order to enjoy the Ball. They are offered as a convenience, an immersive detail, and a keepsake.

If you have questions or need assistance at any time, the registration desk and event staff will be happy to help.
