If you have a question not answered here, we’re always happy to help. The Faelight Ball is designed to be welcoming, guided, and enjoyed at your own pace - no prior experience required.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No preparation is required.

All of the information you need to enjoy the evening will be available to you naturally as the night unfolds. Guests who enjoy reading the lore beforehand may do so, but those arriving with fresh eyes are equally welcome.

  • For most of the evening, no.

The Faelight Ball is designed so that guests may move, pause, or step away at their own pace without losing the thread of the experience. Key story moments are clearly signaled and shared collectively, and staff are always available to help orient you.

However, please note that the plated dinner is served at a fixed time. Guests who arrive after the dinner service has concluded will unfortunately not be able to receive their meal later in the evening. We strongly encourage arriving on time to fully enjoy this portion of the Ball.

Outside of the scheduled dinner service, the flow of the evening remains flexible and welcoming.

  • No.

You are never required to roleplay, adopt a character, or remain “in character.” Some guests enjoy light, playful interaction, while others prefer to observe, dance, or simply enjoy the atmosphere as themselves. There is no single “correct” way to attend the Faelight Ball – all levels of engagement are welcome.

  • Costumes specific to our theme are encouraged to enhance the atmosphere, but are never required. The Faelight Ball is, however, a formal evening, and guests are expected to arrive in formal or evening attire that supports the shared elegance of the night.

For guidance, formalwear includes long gowns, dresses, or skirts, as well as full suits or tailored evening wear such as dress pants paired with a suit jacket. Modern formalwear, vintage pieces, or simple accents added to classic evening clothing are all welcome.

Short cocktail dresses or casual attire are not appropriate for this event.

  • The evening begins with arrival and cocktails at 5:30 PM and concludes at midnight.

Guests are welcome to arrive on time and enjoy the full evening, but the flow of the night allows for flexibility and ease throughout.

  • Yes.

The Faelight Ball spans several historic buildings and outdoor areas at Discovery Harbour. The main ball and seated dinner take place indoors at Captain Roberts’ Table, with additional spaces - including the Night Market, Divination Parlour, and bar - located nearby.

  • The event will proceed rain or shine.

Some portions of the evening include outdoor or semi-covered spaces, so guests are encouraged to plan for variable weather. Layers and outerwear are recommended, and coat check will be available.

  • Yes.

A coat check will be available on-site for coats and outerwear. In addition, a bag check will be available for purchases made during the event, allowing guests to enjoy the evening without needing to carry items as they move between spaces, or keep at their table in the Ball.

Both services are provided for convenience and comfort, so you’re free to wander, dance, and explore unencumbered.

  • We strive to make the Faelight Ball welcoming and accessible to all guests.

However, the event takes place at a historic site with multiple buildings and outdoor pathways, which may include uneven surfaces or steps. We encourage guests with accessibility needs to reach out in advance so we can provide the best possible support.

  • Yes.

Seating is available throughout the venue, including quieter spaces away from the main dance floor. Guests are welcome to rest, observe, or take breaks at any time during the evening.

Who should I contact if I have accessibility needs or questions?

Please contact the event organizers using the accessibility contact information listed on the website. We are happy to discuss accommodations and answer questions in advance.

  • Fae coins are the symbolic currency used throughout the Faelight Ball for purchases at the Night Market, Divination Parlour, and bar. They allow transactions to take place without breaking the immersive atmosphere.

Each guest receives a small pouch of coins at the start of the evening, and unused coins may be kept as souvenirs. Additional coins may be purchased at any time at the registration desk.

Modern cash and card are accepted only at the registration desk for the purchase of Fae coins. All other purchases within the event spaces are made using coins.

There are three denominations of Fae coin – Gold, Tin, and Copper, listed from most valuable to least. Exact values will be shared closer to the event date. Silver is intentionally not used, as it is traditionally harmful to certain fae and magical creatures.

  • Yes, thoughtful personal photography is welcome.

Guests are asked to be mindful of others, respect consent, and keep phone use discreet so as not to disrupt the atmosphere. Photography and recording should not be used during specific theatrical moments or to interrupt performers. Flash photography, video lights, and other disruptive device use are not permitted.

Professional photography will also be provided, and a selection of images will be shared on the event’s website after the evening concludes.

  • If you feel uncomfortable at any point, or need assistance, please reach out to event staff, hosts, or the registration desk. Help is always nearby.

  • Event staff, hosts, and organizers are present throughout the venue and are trained to assist with any concerns. Your comfort and safety are important to us.

  • No.

Due to the complexity and advance costs associated with producing the Faelight Ball, tickets are non-refundable once purchased. However, tickets may be transferred to another guest. If you need to arrange a transfer, please contact the organizers for assistance.

  • The dinner menu has been carefully planned to accommodate common dietary needs.

The meal is free of dairy, nuts, gluten, and shellfish, and both meat and vegetarian/vegan options will be available for the main course. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer additional substitutions beyond these options.

Guests with questions about ingredients or accessibility are welcome to reach out in advance.
